Forschungsinteressen

I am a physicist working on atmospheric science and remote sensing. I am involved in observation and modeling of the Earth atmosphere, atmospheres of planets and their moons, cometary atmospheres and atmospheres of minor planets. I built up a laboratory for the development of instrumentation for atmospheric observations using heterodyne spectroscopy techniques. The instruments are used in ground-based, airborne and space borne applications and cover the millimeter wave – submillimeter wave and infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum.  I am the head of the planetary atmospheres group at MPS,  the Principal Investigator (PI) of the Submillimetre Wave Instrument (SWI) on the JUpiter ICy moons Explorer (JUICE) and Co-PI of the Atmospheric Remote-sensing Infrared Exoplanet Large-survey (ARIEL).
